Hi There,
Its noce just not quite white enough for me - i added a mod where I just tried make the egret whiter and desaturated the image a bit to stop the background colours detracting from the bird. I also added a very soft blur vignette to the edges to again draw attention to the bird.
Cheers

You did well to capture the egret with something in its beak.
I think it's a good image to start with, Malcolm, and that Stuart's modification has shown you a few improvements, but apart from that I think it's ok. We can't always choose our backgrounds, so have to make the best of what we have got.
I think you should be happy with this one.
Pamela.

I like this shot, it is a good photograph of a beautiful bird. It is tricky to obtain feather detail with white birds. The bird is side on, the focus is good, the eye is bright. I also like that you've captured it doing something (albeit with a fairly inconspicuous piece of food). I would begin to improve on a shot like this by watching carefully next time for a cleaner background or look for a bird which is further away from its background, thus allowing you to blur it (of course this can be done in post-processing). Timing is everything and it would be a great to capture a big worm or fish wriggling in its beak, for example. Water droplets would be nice too. That always requires lots of patience and luck. Hope this is a little help. Kate
