My guess is that this is a small crop from a much larger image?
Can you upload the full size image, - just re size and sharpen, then click Upload a Modification so we can see whats going on?
What programme did you use for re sizing? Did you click Bi-Cubic as the method to use for re sampling?
Which 300mm lens, - f/4 or f/2.8?
What were you shot settings?

Thanks for the info, - shot settings look fine, - what problem are you having with re sizing?
Are you using Photoshop?
First set PPI to 72.
The max length to whatever you are allowed, 600 pix for non E2.
Make sure Bi Cubic sampling is checked.
Then save and adjust file size.
Then sharpen.
