Two lovely shots Malcolm; there are many things about both that I like very much but having gone from one to the other I'm going to opt for the monochrome for the contrasts and the way it seems to highlight the remarkable structure of the pier. The way the light glints off the water in at the foreground is lovely! SmileSmileSmile

Placid and a low tide for sure Malcolm, how was the climb up the wall?

Walking along that wall looks a bit dodgy...

The toning in your version works very well!

Climb up on the wall was ok by the railings Dougie, but my idea of walking back along the high part of the pier was quickly abandoned - don't have the balance these days !

A very well considered composition and like Ericsamson I have been wavering between the two: decided I prefer the monochrome as the contrast is more pronounced, and this it turns highlights the lighter areas and gives the water that silvery sheen.
