You've battled with the sliding scale
Lungs turned black & faces pale
Now your body's up for sale
Farewell Johnny Miner!

This sprang to my mind when I saw your picture.
Have a great 2008,

Excellent shot, bronze sculpture isn't an easy subject! Good angle, and use of natural light.
I'm not a huge fan of manipulation, but I'd be inclined to take out the buildings bottom left, they're a distraction from the clean lines of the monument.

Superb viewpoint Mal, you captured some great detail in the statue, especially against that lovely sky.
I agree with Moira about bottom left.

Cheers all.
Johanna-thanks for the poem!

I might have a go at removing the buildings - if I can manage it without cocking it up!

reminds me of my Late Uncle Wyndham, who spent his last days wheezing into a some pufffer thing because of the coal dust. I was only a kid, but it is a stark memory of a very typically kind Welsh guy. Your poem bought tears to my eyes. He worked in the 6 bells pit I think in Abitellery

Lovely stuff
