Taken at around 2pm today in our back garden, this dragonfly lava case was on the wire mesh we have around our fishpond to stop the herons stealing any more of our fish. We took some pics in situ, then carefully removed it and placed it on a water iris leaf ... holding our breath as we did so in case it crumbled! Took a while .... but with a bit of patience, we succeeded! I thought a triptych would be nice .... the first 1 on the left was looking straight down on it while still on the mesh, the other 2 after moving it to the leaf. Not sure how long it had been there un-noticed, just feel it is a shame we never witnessed the emerging dragonfly! It amazed us how perfect the case is, the hole it emerged from is on the back just behind the head, hopefully after the upload that will still be just about noticeable! Only 1 of these shots was taken without a tripod, and i am so chuffed it came out as clear as it has as I am not at all steady. Can you tell which one that was???? Thanks for all previous comments, seems my bull wasnt all that big a hit which is a tad disappointing but hey ho ... onward and upward! Thanks for stopping by and please feel free as always ... to give advice etc .. All gratefully recieved and appreciated. Take care all,
Karen xxx
