Azure and the Wild Lettuce

The wild lettuce spreads it seeds following the dandelion tradition. The cases, not quite ready here, are about 1 inch, emerging from some tiny yellow flowers. These stalks are 4-5 feet tall and were left uncut. Today they are a mass of fluffy seeds ready to fly!

A fabulous image of this tiny beauty, this species looks very like our Holly Blue. Keeping him/her so small in the frame gives us a real sense of scale.
