Bramble Blossom

By MariaElaine
I just thought this looked very attractive as I walked in the woods. I wanted to capture the flower in detail with the buds around it but wanted the background to be none intrusive taken with Canon 7D and 300mm + 1.4

Think it's done what you wanted Maria nice detail with the flower and buds and a none intrusive background with just a hint of detail.

I quite like the shot, its been well taken and composed. I just feel it could do with a little more impact so have adjusted the contrast and and cropped it tighter filling up the frame.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, yes I like what have done.

You have achieved your aim, Maria, and I like the way devlin has cropped it in his modification.
I particularly like your "Cyclamen Bud" in your portfolio.
Flowers like this bramble blossom, taken face on, and with some symmetry, usually do look good in the centre of a squarish frame, rather than being offset.
The little buds are a fine addition, the stamens are nice and sharp, the light and exposure on the white petals is good, and you have some nice detail in the petals too.

An attractive shot Maria. It really has no business being this good, and the shutter speed is way too slow unless you used a tripod or very solid support.

Not a lot to suggest, - I would brighten is slightly, not so far as has been done, and would adjust midtones and sharpen for more detail.

Well done,

Thanks for all the help. I was using a tripod I find I can't hold the camera as steady as I would like, so I have to take the tripod wherever I go, which s a pain.

Just needs brightening a bit and may be a touch of smart sharpen. But you had to be using a tripod, and you say you were. Rather 'over tooled' for the job. You have thus done quite well, and possibly the 1.4 converter allowed you to get a decent image size. f11 and a burst of flash, possibly.

Thanks Paul, will try that.
