Firework Champions

By Marian
This was taken on Saturday at the Firework Champions Competition, held near my home which was excellent. It gave me an opportunity to practice another skill, which I read up about on this site - taking fireworks. 3 Teams put on a 10 min show, then voting took place by phone to see who won.

I used:-

ISO 100
Bulb and 3 -6 seconds.

Fantastic, I tried to capture fireworks two weeks ago at a Prom in the Park, very difficult to know where to point the camera. This is great. Trish

I love fireworks and have never achieved anything as good as this... lovely 'clear bursts', nice clarity/tones..... great low light shot.

great shot, love the multiple "exposures" of fireworks and how the crowd and abbey are illuminated

I think you've done extremely well here. Think I'd need a tutorial or two before attempting this, too !! Great energy captured here, very impressive.

I'm pleased that keeping the Abbey in the foreground has brought positive comments, as I couldn't quite make my mind up what to do.... go for the foreground or the wonderful big bursts in the sky.
Maybe I should have taken some of both, but once the camera was set up in the tripod, I left things as they were.
