Beach boy

By Marioks
I've done this photo during vacation in Thailand. We were on an island with very few people. Just the boat in the background.

The little person is quite nicely captured, but I feel the boat clutters the image. If you had moved round to the left so as to separate the two you could have had a more pleasing composition I feel. A bit more space under his feet would help too.

As it is, there is nothing of interest in the right half, so why not a portrait crop - see mod. That way the little person is also moving into the frame and not out of it.

A lovely shot.

Good advice from chataignyer, - better if its a portrait orientation, and in addition, if theres a little space under the feet.

I see you used a +0.33, which is good, though perhaps +0.66 would be better.

I have uploaded a mod, similar to the one already there, with the increased exposure, added space, and a slight rotation.

Well done

Regards

The boat can be i nthe background, but it needs to be on the far side from the child.

Otherwise, everything looks good, including your choice of aperture to throw the background well out of focus.

Totally timeless, our childhoods were like this.

I agree with above comments about portrait crop and more space under the feet. But this sort of shot is about seize-the-moment, capture it while it lasts.

I've uploaded my own modification - similar crop to the others but I went for sepia toned mono, with a light vignette.

I did also skew top left up a notch to level the sea.

Thank you for your comments. Now that you say I totally agree with your suggestions. This photo does need some space under the feet and the boy needs to be separated from the boat. mrswoolybill right to the point, I tried to capture it while it lasts, the boy is pretty fast and he does not wait in one spot. I done few more pictures in this place but many pictures were either too intimate (if you know what I mean Smile or expression is not right etc. Thank you once more.
