Disturbed whilst feeding

By markst33
The theme we were going for with this session was a Marilyn Manson/Vampire type thing.

I had bought fangs and fake blood but the fangs would not stay in and I was worried about cleaning up the blood when trying to do other shots afterwards so in the end I did it all in PS. Instead of doing the usual beautifying of the model I went the opposite way and whacked up the clarity to bring out every blemish in the skin and then add a few of my own.

I had also bought contact lenses to replicate Marilyn Mansons eye but we did not use them. Instead used the dodge tool to remove just about all the pigment from the irises.

But the most important thing is that we had fun Smile and Laura has some pretty cool and unusual ( and weird) shots from me for her portfolio.

''V'' is not just for Vampire.
I think this shouts for a Vertical framing...
Great to see you worked/played with your model on several ideas.
Time well spent then.

Given that all that grot and effect was added in post processing, I'm really impressed! Smile

I think the only thing I'd actually change is the corner of her mouth on the right of the image (her left) ... the 'blood' is just a shade lighter than the lippy underneath it, so looks a little translucent and not as 'real' and viscous as it could.

Other than that very minor point, then yeah ... beautifully effective!

Well I'm impressed by your PS work. sometimes it's the way to go, especially if you've one or two images to work on. For a whole batch that'd be too much and you might have to go for plan A after all.

I do like Pablo's suggestion of square or vertical crop, as the landscape format leaves redundant space.
Or you could apply more of a vignette there so the attention is wholly on the face.
Minor concerns Smile

Personally I think you need the space behind because the subject is very harsh so the viewer needs to be able to look past it

My instinct was to crop as Pablo has done - if you leave space to look past the subject, there's a risk the viewer will - the eyes will slide past the subject to the background...

So I have done a VERY tight crop, leaving out the background completely, and I also darkened the midtones - but then I dodged the teeth...

As for the previous upload, I think you've sharpened this (and not just hte teeth) to within an inch of it life.

I shall not disagree about the issue of negative space. It is there in the original and all the modifications apart dudler's. But the concept of despair is nowhetre more obvious but in dudler's mod. So strong actually that given the skin colour it makes you wonder if she is still alive. Colour tone as in banehawi's mod 3 shows how colour can emphasise horror. They are all interpretations and I am glad you have offered us the opportunity to discuss your image here rather than uploading it on the main gallery. Thank you.
P.S. I can not but imagine mod3 colour in mod5 crop. Kill me.

This could be superb, but it needs to loose both sides, badly. I struggle with why you left them in. For absolute impact crop in both sides to close to each hand, then it is a cracker.

What a great job and so much fun while doing it.

Hope you like the mod...
