This was taken in Craster a small fishing village in Northumberland. I didnít think I was going to get anything worth uploading, until the sun dropped below the grey cloud and then I spotted the waves smashing against the harbour wall. So I quickly set the camera up and I then spotted Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance, which Iíve tried to use as a point of interest. Also the castle fitted nicely within the concrete frame at the entrance of the harbour. Iíve also gone for a symmetrical composition rather than the rule of thirds.
I was lucky not to get drenched because the sea was breaching the length of the harbour walls - notice the seaweed on the floor.

Cheers for looking.

Excellent shot! I especially like how the breaking wave catches the light. Well timed!

Nice light on the wave but there seems too much enthesis on this side of the wall with all the debris taking up a large portion of the picture. The castle is hard to make out too, perhaps a crop from the right to the point where the lead in of the wall finishes would work better and offer more impact...?

That's the way I wanted it with the wall leading you into the scene up to the castle Smile

Really well though out composition. Love the light that you've caught on the harbour wall and spray, and the way it's reflected in the foreground....perfectly timed to catch it like this too.

For a quickly set-up shot this is excellent. Strong lead-in down the wall and I especially like the framing of the castle and the sea-spray looking all the world like a firework going off in daylight. I would personally crop about an eigth of the image from the left edge .... all the action and interest in the shot is to the right and just left of centre. IMO of course Smile
