The wooden post is what rather dominates the photo here. Try cropping from the left and the top - and sharpening - to increase impact.

I view it much like CB does, but I wonder if going wider might also have worked. Is it a bridal way behind the horse, if so it mat have been interesting to step to the right a bit and have the horse with an out of focus bridal way receding behind it.

You have spotted the shadows well and they do add interest. and it looks pin sharp to me.

A super study of light and shadow, and beautifully clear. Just slightly marred by the crop.If you crop down to the bottom of the horizontal shadow on the right and crop vertically from the left hand edge of the post, it brings the horse to the main focus and takes out annoying dark patches at the top. A very good image.

Potentially a good porrait with a nice attentive horse, but i think the post dominates it, and I can't really see any crop that would improve it much - a few steps to either side at the time might have made the diffrence

just my thoughts..
