Playing The Long Game: Outdoor Photography With Telezooms

Portfolio - marshfam19

marshfam19

Hello to you all, thank you for taking the time to look at my photo gallery.

After some years taking photos on a variety of different cameras’ I now use an Olympus E-M10 which is a mirrorless camera, along with my new 12-200mm lens, this is my go to camera although occasionally I still use my larger Nikon D700 or my Panasonic Lumix TZ70.

Over the years I have been taking and posting photography’s on this site I am not sure if I am getting any better but I still really enjoy receiving your comments and advice, so long may in continue.

Regards

Mary

I agree your shots are lovely I was always told at the camera club about composition and taking time on what you see around you. I agree about spending thousands on camera stuff. You can always compose a beautiful picture with good exposure with any camera. I think it also depends what you want to do with your photography, if you are planning to load up to photo agencies then the camera requirements get serious. An example is Alamy they told me recently they do not accept a Nikon compact camera I was thinking of buying even though it had 20 million pixels. My Canon 400d was on the recommended list and that has only 10.5 million pixels. I also have a fuji compact which has 16 million pixels that takes wonderful photos. Your photos are lovely and your getting good comments, it's good to critique your own work it will make your pictures in the long run even better. I have been practising for 5 years with my 400d and only now I think I know it, but it still surprises me sometimes.

You have some very good shots on here, it does take time to get used to any camera - finding its strengths and weaknesses. The main thing to remember though is that it is not the equipment but the eye for a good picture that counts, I was told this back in the '80's when a friend of mine had over £3000 of equipment and always complained that my shots were better than his although I only had a £150 pracktica. so all i can say is the composition is good , just play with the camera and get used to what you can do with it.
