In Flight

In Flight

The Story
This shot was taken as my nephew bounced on the trampoline on a sunny afternoon. He was particularly excited to show off his new stunts which included crossing his legs in mid air. The effect looks like he is sitting as he floats through a cloud filled sky.

I did not want any of the garden in the shot, just the model and the sky. In order to achieve this I had to lie low on the ground. Therefore, for those of you who may be wondering, the picture of the boy was not layered over the top of an image of the sky. It was shot exactly as it looks.

The Technical Bit

Camera - Nikon D40
Lens - Sigma 50mm - F1.4 EX DG
Aperture - f/2.0
Shutter - 1/4000
ISO - 200
Exposure - Auto
WB - Auto
Metering - Matrix

Manipulation
I have played about and experimented with this image with beginners hands. Exposure variations between the model and sky, selective sharpening, contrast and colours.

Feedback always welcome.

like it, the positioning of him against the clouds does make it look like he is sitting on the cloud.lesley
