5 people on a motorcycle

By MarvKoon
Street shot by a traffic light in Delhi.
I liked the smile on the girl's face.

thanks for advice!

Yes he was the only one wearing protection! and yes they're all on one bike! I was terrified for them. They obviously were not!

Technically first rate. How i wish they were all looking at you. It would have been superb.

Parts of the picture I find very appealing. especially on the rhs, with the mom, the pointing girl and the little boy leaning on her arm. this part is quite vibrant and lively. Even the man with helmet still fits in. But so the more you go towards the left, the more you just wish to ignore the parts in that area. the eye just keeps wandering back to the interesting right part of the photo. So I think it's mainly a compositional problem. I want to see more of the rhs, and want to see less on the lhs. but then the two persons on the lhs that add much less to the picture as a whole, are standing in the way of achieving a satisfying composition that focuses more on the rhs. so just shifting the frame towards the right isn't really helping. Trying a wider lens angle might have done the trick, but then the motorcycle in the fg would get even more in the way of things. So overall I find it a bit unbalanced on the lhs and rhs. And I don't think a crop will help much. Also top and bottom feels unbalanced composition-wise. were it not for the motorcycle in the fg, I would like to see some more space at the bottom. but as it is (with the motorcycle) I suggest you crop a chunk off the top (see mod). This would also give you a (in my opinion more appealing) 3:2 landscape format rather then the 4:3 format you have now.
You seem to have taken this from a difficult position, with much 'clutter' interfering (the thing on top, but mainly the motorcycle standing between you and the subjects). Sometimes 'interfering' things can actually add something to a photo (they can help frame the subject, and sometimes add depth to a photo), but this is a good example of the contrary. the motorcycle bits just annoy. so if you come in a situation like this, I can only suggest you to choose a different location/angle to shoot from.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wish the motorbike in front wasn't there too! But I had little time to compose this shot. I was in a rickshaw( part of which appears at the top right corner) , and when I saw a whole family in a motorbike I thought I needed to capture this! I think the left hand side is important as it puts the subjects in context( that they are all on a motorcycle) and contributes to the irony- that only the guy is wearing a helmet! I wish the girl on the right was looking in our direction though.
