Autumn tree

Not sure why there have been no comments on this, Marvin......on the other hand, I am finding it hard to critique tooGrin.
It is, as you say, a picture of an autumn tree. It has a lovely shaped trunk which the light is falling on nicely. The tree is your subject, but the house commands attention. I feel the tree would look better if on its own. I would either like to have seen the whole of the tree or a close shot of some branches and colourful leaves. Alternatively, by choosing a lower viewpoint, you could have used landscape format and shown more of the house in your frame, with the golden leaves nicely falling overhead, with the tree trunk possibly in the same position, which is well placed. I think your title would then have to be Chatsworth House in Autumn, but you would be making the best use of the tree in this way. The sun was fairly low and you have kept colour in the sky. I think it's showing just a bit too much of the tree. I will do a modification showing a simple crop, on the lines suggested, if there were more of the house in the frame.

Having done the modification, I quite like it now, with less tree in the frame.
