Father and Son

By MaryLee
We got up for some sunrise fishing in Cabo San Lucas. I am pleased for the most part with this but think reducing some of the burn would help the overall image. Thoughts or suggestions on how to accomplish this without darkening the whole thing? (i don't have PS)

Very nice. I just had a look in PS and used shadow/highlight to bring back some of the detail, not sure how you'd do it without PS though. click

A lovely image that looks good despite the excessive brightness. Not too sure about non-Photoshop techniques but did you consider a crop to produce a portrait style image? That would eliminate most of the sunlight altho may also reduce the atmosphere - thinking aloud really....I like the picture Smile

Its always difficult to do much with burnt out highlights without it looking artificial.
But in this case i think it's part of the scene as you saw it on the day, the sun reflected on the sea would be glaring.
It makes a very striking image.
Don't always be bound by the rules, enjoy photography for your own pleasure !
Nice one, Mary Lee
