I wasn't sure where to crop this, not sure about the railway in the back ground, too high too low or cut it out?

Hi Jane

It helps a lot, at least in my experience, to have a clear idea before you take the pic about what the main focus of the pic is.

It is not coming across all that clearly to me what you want me to look at. There is the obvious foreground interest in the stumps of wood. Then there is quite a large expanse of water where not a great deal is happening. Then in the background the railway comes in and the hills behind it which are interesting. So the foreground and the background don't quite hang together in my view.

If it was my shot I would be concentrating on those lovely stumps and the beautiful patterns in the sand around, so I would forget about the railway. But to make the most of those bits of wood unfortunately you may have to get down a bit and grub around in the mud, but I'm sure it would be worth it.

Think that the railway can work within the image, but it would have looked better if you held the camera closer to the ground.
You would have the detailing of the sand, those straight lines of the railway as a contrast to the foreground, and a bit more space for the sky.
That gives the image a more spacious feel.

If you go back to this place I would try out various Points Of View to get the best of the scene.
