Thanks Paul , I shall try this again with a different subject if we ever have thick, bright fog again . The ugly boiler is a necessary evil and you cant cover it but as it is quite tall suits my purpose for sky portraits Smile)

Mavis, another picture showing your usual excellent technique...however, I do find it a bit disorientating...I assume the camera was pointed vertical upwards to take this, yet if you hadn't mentioned the sky, I would have thought it was taken on a light box and the camera was pointing down.

This is amazing - it has such a studio feel to it, incredible that it was taken outside in fog. Who needs a softbox eh?

Thanks for your kind words JP . I am not quite sure what a soft box is ?

Hi..Mavis, in first instance I thought it was taken against white background. It is excellent shot with sharp and crisp with a brilliant colour. Regards,

Mavis, a softbox is a huge (usually about 90cm x 90cm) square diffuser placed over studio flash that gives very soft, even illumination - just like this. Very popular with studio photographers.

Mavis, you are obviously brilliant at this type of work. My preference would be for your shot called 'in the pink' though.

I don't understand why it should be but there seems to be some softness around the stamens in this shot, whereas 'in the pink' is fantastically sharp everywhere.

Obviously though, still an excellent shot.

Thanks Simon for your thoughts . It was more difficult looking upwards in the fog than having everything under control in the front room Smile Oh I have just been told it is on photo of the week I didn't know !!

Thanks JP , now we know what a softbox is Paddy said next time there is fog she is hiking her plants up to the sports centre where she takes her Foggy pics Smile) Thanks too Suresh

A really lovely shot, my only criticsm, and it is a small one, would be the central part of the flower is visually running into the petal behind it a bit, flattening the perspective.Really nice shot though. Great colour.

Are the petals translucent or are there shades of grey on them? Not into flowers, Im intrigued. Would never have guessed this was shot out of doors. Nicely presented, eye catching. Well done.

John the petals are translucent ( lovely word). Think I've started a new trend . Perhaps we will now see scantily dressed models cavorting in the fog ....LOL

Awesome. Mother nature can put technology to shame can't she? Who needs fancy lights 'n' stuff? Well done. I don't like the border though - it's too thick for my liking. Love the photo tho. Well done.

Just browsing idly around Mavis -

You are a fine photographer with an excellent eye and, to boot, versatile - which always gets my approbation (not of course that you need that) - and perhaps most creditworthy of all honest and unaffected!!
