Glories of Summer

By Mavis
Such a wonderful September with more butterflies than I've seen for years in my front garden.

This one is spoit for me because the front wing of the butterfly isn't sharp. It's a tricky one because you don't have the same amount of control with the digital camera to ensure enough depth of field. The safest bet is to try and photograph butterflies when their wings are fully open and so that the camera is parallel . In this case walking round to the left and taking a higher viewpoint would have helped. Alternatively take a couple of shots making sure the focus is locked on a mid point (body of butterfly). In this example I think it was probably on the flower so the depth of field has only reached the body of the butterfly and not closer.

Thanks Pete for your helpful comments . I do have other shots of the bloomin'thing but although both wings are sharp don't please me as well . Then there's Stan telling me to chop off the left which I did xx I'm just happy with the vivid colours of nearly gone Summer .
