Angela, unfortunately the uplighter I'm using is 6 feet tall and can only really be used to illuminate the ceiling, albeit very brightly. Having said that I could lean it against something to illuminate from behind. I might have a play sometime.

This is a great close-up. What I use for lighting is just a small telescopic halogen light which I got from Ikea for a few quid, in fact if not mistaken the Lidl shop (dare I say it)has advertised a similar one on sale next Monday, no I dont work for them but will probably purchase another.
