I'm sure someone can confirm the exact type of flower / tulip, but its one of several cool looking ones I bought from the market yesterday to play with. Still working low budget, I used a halogen uplighter directed at the ceiling, and a Cobra flash and slave unit to the right (with a hand-held postcard to stop the camera's flash from lighting the flower!)

its a nice image of a parrot tulip
use "diffuse tungsten light system" myself
OK - desk lamp, bedside lamp, torch and greaseproof paper !
whatever works for the effect you want
