Swans

By maxmelvin19
I thought I'd post some more pictures from my trip to Ludlow. This is another abstract(ish) pic, I tried to keep the composition as simple as possible but I'm still learning.

Any tips or criticisms are as always valued and appreciated...

So do I, there isn't enough contrast for the mono version, & you almost lose the grasses in the foreground.

As an abstract, I'm not sure it works, as it's difficult to see what you had in mind.
As a straight arty or record shot, the angle is really too high. If you'd come down off the bridge, assuming the swans hadn't moved on by then, you'd have got a better shot. You'd be closer to the subject, & the grasses look like they'd be nice and tall, to make good foreground interest.

The water makes for a really nice texture though. Try a contrast boost, & see what happens. You can push it further with the mono version, & it may make that one the better of the 2.

I've added a mod, to try to illustrate my point. Trouble is, the shrink in size has added more contrast. Now it looks like I went too far.

Thank you for this, I think it's perfect actually - just what I had in my head when trying to convert to mono but I'm still very new to post-processing.
