  • The Hat by Richsr

Beautiful Image Richard. Reminds me of Bill Brandt's work (minus the distortion). The tones of the hat compliment the high contrast between the face and the black background.Composition is first class too.Deserving of all the praise and awards above.

  • I look in the mirror and what do I see someone else staring back at me by Viewpoint

I see that mug every week but never in do much detail. Good to see your putting the remote release to good use with excellent results. The de saturated processing works a treat too.

Thanks Conrad, My son who is 8 years old made me chuckle. He said to me while I was taking this photo "Why are you taking a picture of that old camera ?"

To me that's part of the appeal, I think the look of the camera makes it far less intimidating than pointing a SLR with a huge lens at them.

Beautiful light and tones, I find the light area at the top a little distracting (to my eye) but still makes for a very pleasing image.

  • Posted on: New Range Of Photo Accessories For Intro 2020

Bought a set of these direct from Phottix a few weeks back, so far they have been flawless have a good range and have four groups available. Not had a misfire yet.....

No TTL, max sync on my D300 is fine at 1/250 with no shutter visible. The passthrough hotshoe on the transmitter is also a bounus (could be handy when mixing speedlights with monoblocks ?) I would recommend these to anyone looking to get their speedlight(s) off the camera.

They also double up as a wireless camera remote and come with a generous choice of leads / adapter plugs. Wink

  • Posted on: Health warning on manipulated photographs

I don't think that the manipulated images are to blame by themselves. I think the biggest problem are all the stars/starlets that the media hound into being unhealthily thin.

These images may or may not be manipulated but the people in them are conforming to a kind of lifestyle choice.

The problem is that they are idolised by many of these young impressionable people and I think the onus is on them, as the role model they should carry the responsibility of their appearence/status.

There was an interesting documentary on a few months back, Alicia Dixon appeared in it and it was investigating the industry and the use of digital manipulation and the impact upon it's target audience.

She was trying to produce an ad campaign featuring her, using an untouched image. She actually had difficulty getting anyone onboard.

So who is to blame ? the subject of the photographs, the photographer(s) or the industry?

  • Posted on: Health warning on manipulated photographs

Bah what a load of tosh.

Photography is a creative process, when an artist creates a masterpeice on canvass with brush and paint, will that have to carry a health warning too ?

The final result of the scene or person that they have painted won't be as it is in real life, it's their interpretation of it.

    Same thing as digital manipulation.

    Idiots !

I'm sure its something to do with the way data is stored. It's like a hard drive - take a 160 gb drive (unformatted) once you format the drive it will have a capacity of say 156Gb because of the structure (I think most Flash media uses Fat 32 which would then make sense)

Still if thats the case it should be stated somewhere on the product......
