  • The Hat

Beautiful Image Richard. Reminds me of Bill Brandt's work (minus the distortion). The tones of the hat compliment the high contrast between the face and the black background.Composition is first class too.Deserving of all the praise and awards above.

  • I look in the mirror and what do I see someone else staring back at me

I see that mug every week but never in do much detail. Good to see your putting the remote release to good use with excellent results. The de saturated processing works a treat too.

Thanks Conrad, My son who is 8 years old made me chuckle. He said to me while I was taking this photo "Why are you taking a picture of that old camera ?"

To me that's part of the appeal, I think the look of the camera makes it far less intimidating than pointing a SLR with a huge lens at them.

Beautiful light and tones, I find the light area at the top a little distracting (to my eye) but still makes for a very pleasing image.

  • A close shave

Thanks chaps, I was quite happy with the light on this shot.

I really like the pose and lighting. I think it would also be good if some of the negative space at the right and bottom was cropped away, unless you were leaving some space for the model to look into ?

    Good stuff,

Thanks Tom, To get the log in this composition I had to wade out into the river, luckily it wasn't too slippery, it's always a bit worrying when carrying your pride and joy into something that could kill it with one slip....

  • Standing...

I love candid shots like this that make you think about the subject. Wonder if he has a good family or if he is all alone as he seems in this shot. good stuff.

Nicely done with subtle tones. I imagine this would look good in mono too.

  • Orwell Bridge

Agree with Co in respect to the car being more prominent but this is still a great shot, the backlight on the bridge is amazing.

  • Hayle from St Ives

Not usually a fan of blurry abstracts but this works well. Good stuff,

    Thanks for the comments folks,

Alun, It was my first visit to the area and I must say I was a little unprepared. I didn't realise the going would be quite so tough, would have been a little easier if I didn't have all my gear in tow Wink Thanks for the UA much appreciated !

Quote:A very good shot indeed. A crime that its not getting more votes.

Perhaps I sould of asked him to pose in stocking and suspenders, they always seem to go down well on epz Tongue

Fantastic ratios on the strobes. The bike pops really well without being to ott. This is inspiring stuff, better than alot of images that get published in the mags.

Thanks for your advice on one of my shots Dave. I'm on my mobile at the moment but this still looks pretty good.I like the fact that the strobe looks like a street light.I think the arm ache was worth the effort.

  • Digital generation.

Cheers Rick, so true how things have changed. Funny how we wouldn't limit the amount of time he reads but put limits on the "bad" modern toys and games.... to be honest I think they learn alot from some of these games, he solves the puzzles better than me !

  • Rock Of Ages

This is fantastic and a fine example that it's not about what you include but what you leave out.

    Great stuff,
