  • Ice under the Blue Water Bridge

Hello, Peter, thanks for your feedback. The blocks are stone cut in a quarry. Man-made would not survive these extremely harsh, icy winters. The ice moving down from the lake, often a foot thick, pushes against this point. Several years ago, the Spring ice had pushed a 300 m freighter sideways into the mouth of the river and was threatening to crash it against these blocks. Three icebreakers assisted and it took an entire day to free the freighter. One of the icebreakers was at one time caught between the freighter and these blocks.

    Thanks very much, Peter.

The new site format is a bit more cumbersome to use. It will take a a few days to get used to it.

    Have a good weekend.

This is an amazing photo! I had to look twice to see the bird correctly. At first it looked like it is flying upside down. Such wonderful details and colors, well done!

This photo didn't need any editing, this is what Michigan Autumns are like, the perfect reward for enduring our cold, snowy, icy Spring weather we have to battle every year.

    Have a good weekend.

    Thanks, Jen! SmileSmileSmile

I went to the nature center today and was surprised that the butterfly garden is at its peak, so much color, but I can't capture the beauty the way I saw it. A camera is a poor tool to repeat what I experienced.
