Lovely tones in the photo. Was this a series of shots layered? There appears to be movement during the shot or as there is ghosting however I cannot see how this was possible at 1/1000 sec.
Lovely composition.....great sky!

A lovely addition of colour to the bleak midwinter

The halo effect looks rather weird, but at the same time it works if that makes sense?...

I would say that this image has had a lot of jiggery pokery and work put into it ... not just layers ... added trees via 'brushes' seem evident in some areas (?), although they're quite well blended. The right hand big tree in the foreground ... (or trees Grin, depending on how many you're seeing) ... has something in the distance coming across the right hand trunk, yet under the left hand trunk (oh god, this is getting confusing!). I agree with Nathan in that the whole thing kinda shouldn't work ... but sort of does ... weirdly ... Grin I didn't think I'd like it, but I sort of do ...

Thanks everyone for your comments! I'm glad that I made some of you think.

If this needs analyzing, you're missing my point. I/we in Michigan are very winter-sick!!! This is just an expression of my feeling, not a beautiful winter landscape. I have dozens of 'beautiful' shots of snow from this winter, but I upload most in Panoramio, ipernity, ePhotozine and Weather Underground.

∙Yes, the shot was exposed at 1/1000.
∙No, these are not several layers of shots.
∙I often use three programs when 'playing' with my photos and this was done that way.

Cheers from the 'Arctic' Michigan,

Doerthe

'Think' isn't necessarily the word I'd have used, but I appreciate where you're coming from and hope that the weather over there improves soon for you all - I certainly don't envy you, even with some of the appalling weather conditions we've had over here in ol' Blighty!

As an expression of feeling, rather than a 'beautiful shot', I'd say you've achieved your aim Grin
