You are all very kind.
Had I been alone, I might have been in mourning.
This was a very day of very changeble conditions. I had in mind a visit to a different spot, but as we passed here the play of light was breathtaking. But, as per Murphy's rule, not more than a minute as we got in position the heavens opened and sent us in retreat. During the retreat I spotted this pool (full of frog spawn BTW). I had the feeling the light would come good. Little did I know that 50 yards away were 4 red deer stags reflected in a pool, and I only had the WA lens on. LOL, you win some you lose some.

This is beautiful light Mel, evening light is always good, never seen it here before, and never been here at this time either. The deer are here quite a lot especially in winter, what on earth happened to your camera? Remember that the camera can be replaced you can't my friend.

All the very best

Like this a lot Melanie, I wanted to get down to that cottage and photograph Stob Dearg from there as I personally think it looks best from that angle even though most folk, including me, shoot it from the Coupall falls. You've just managed to get both beg and mor in this one.

Wonderful wide angle view, capturing all them reflections, you'll need to go back for the deer though.

Super shot. There's nothing like getting too close to water for comfort with an expensive piece of kit Grin

there's little to top snow covered Scottish mountains and good weather.

You know there are some weeks when there a number of very good images that hit the site. This was one of those times and yet still this one stood out for me. Great shot.

I thought I might drop in and comment on this photograph since it was taken with my Canon XTi and my 10-22mm lens following Melanie's unfortunate accident and the loss of her treasured 5D.

Recently I read a debate on the web about whether it's the camera or the photographer that is most important. This shot proves conclusively to me that it is the photographer.

Our group was just finishing up a splendid week in Scotland when this photograph was made. What a day it was, cold, spouts of hail, snow, rain, sleet, and sunshine. As usual, I spent my time close to the car and fiddling around with a fence line that I thought might make a good lead-in to the cottage while Melanie is several hundred yards away wading in a stream looking for a reflection. She obviously found it.

It's an extraordinary result. There is absolutely no way I can ever use this camera and lens in the same manner as Melanie did that day. I hope to return again to Scotland someday and perhaps get another lesson from Melanie about doing landscape photography. "Filters Bill, filters" I can hear the words. LOL. Yep, I own them, they are usually packed away neatly in my camera bag. Guess one of these days I will have to get them out and figure out how to use them.

What a great shot this is Melanie. I need to dig out the XTi and the lens and try it out in Florida. But something tells me that I won't ever produce the quality of images you do with the same equipment.

Congratulations and thanks to you and Claire for all your advice and assistance to me.

It really is an extraordinary photograph Melanie, really.

Everytime I visit your Portfolio I always seem to be at a loss of what to say. Your Images are so great. Landscape's like these are just not found around here. I would venture to say I'd have to travel to the State of Montana for something like this or Yellowstone National Park. I have marked this as a Favorite, as well as some others. Grin
