Not my usual kind of photography, but I've never seen one of these before so I thought I'd get a few snaps of it. Didn't put much into the planning of it to be honest. Just got on my knees and shot low down, before someone's dog came running up and nearly bowled me over!

It was at the side of a path leading up to Beacon Hill near Penrith. Lovely day, but within the woodland there wasn't much light.

I read something recently about contrast masking, and tried the effect on here. Google it. It's an interesting method to get a bit more out of a simple shot like this, and it definitely brings out some of the detail.

Should add, I believe it's an amethyst deceiver...
