Dark Skye

By Metalhead
I entered this into the recent Landscape comp on EPZ but, again, with no luck! But what can you do when you spend a week touring Scotland and barely see the sun?? I'm guessing I'm still OK to submit it even though it's technically still reachable from my portfolio?

Oh well...

This was actually taken in August 2008 so it's a bit of an oldie. It's from the mainland looking towards the bridge...

I've done a bit of exposure blending from two images derived from one RAW file (isn't digital great?!) and overall it looks far better than the original file. Hopefully my blending is subtle enough... I'll have to revisit some other shots too.

Comments welcome as always.

Love this image - has tremendous depth and clarity and beautifully muted tones.
Ronnie.

(PS. Thanks for your helpful advice re. my image 'Vaulted Undercroft' - but I'm not sure I yet have the skills to achieve what you suggest. R).

Chris, I'm normally against 'blending' but you've done this so well -- in an understated way -- that I would never have known! I thought I knew Scotland but, er, what bridge is that?
No matter. Lovely 'natural' shot and worth a vote.
