This shot has so much more impact than the previous one with the other horses in it. The only other way to reduce the bg effct is to shoot them running when they are not so close to a hedge or fence - especially in this case when the bushes have a camouflaging effct on the horse. However, that's not always possible!!! You are doing well to capture the fast action so crisply.

thank you all for your comments, much appreciated. good point Linda, I hadn't set out to take these shots at all, I don't know if you know Ludlow race course but it goes across a road so they close the road when each race is on then open it between races, that's how I came to take these shots, I was travelling through and had to stop for the race so I thought I might as well park up and take a few photo's. I want to go back again to get some better vantage points, mike
