Fourth in the series of Photos of Shawhead. Being a civil engineer, and concerned almost exclusively with transport I'm always interested in anything to do with roads. This little junction, in the middle of, well, nowhere (sorry Shawhead residents!) caught my eye... if you ask for directions and are told to turn left at the duck don't worry
The junction is just a short distance from the Contented Tree, which links the images nicely. The photos weren't taken too long after the Glenkiln Slip, maybe half past 7 in the morning? I had a great flurry of photographing different things between 4.30am and 8.30am, twas great fun! This junction was a great wee surprise, as with all the photos of Shawhead.
The photo is another stitched image, made up of 8 individual shots. It was impossible to get a good wide angle shot as the edges of the road are lined with dry stone wall. I think it has worked well as the road leads the eye nicely around the frame. I'd have liked a more dramatic sky, but in a way it reminds me instead of a painting. Had Turner been a transport engineer could this have been an early work?
I don't expect this photo to gather many views as from the thumbnail it doesn't look too interesting, but hopefully some EPZ users will click on the link anyway and discover the secret of... the duck
Enjoy-joy! (for the Demolition Man fans)
