This puts me in mind of a toasting fork and an electric toaster, rusty ones I will grant you. - gary

Excellent find Mick I think the bars are to keep you out ant the toasting fork thing looks like what that man that comes out from the sea has in his hand (can't think of his name but he has a beard ) or I might just be imagining it .Any way it deserves my award for an excellent colourful shot.WinkSmileWink

The 'prison window' is so that those within can view those without and determine whether they are to be invited in or not. Guess you failed the assessment Mick.

Lovely shot again.

I think it is your front door. The peephole is so that you can see if any of the neighbours are coming to complain of your antics TongueGrin. Moira

Oh Mick, you've come over all pastel!
That paint really does complement strong ironwork rather well.

That's one cracker of a composition, Mick!
Scottish security in the Middle Ages was assured - the blacksmiths had it nailed Grin

Quote:I am not sure of the purpose of the little ''prison window'' on it though !!

's'easy - it was for keeping an eye on little prisoners!

The barred window is so that you can see if it is Big Aggie outside before deciding not to open the door.

...Or, the door to the Leith Dockers Club, they can see who to allow in for the illegal ludo contests.

I wonder if this is not the original coat of arms of the RAS. it depicts the tree of life of rust. the roots are well rusty, expand into strong branches of rust and then spread out to future rust elsewhere Smile
