Looks as if layers of paint have been applied liberally to the door with little regard for the condition of the handle and key plate.
Makes a great subject for you though, and the contrast between the to areas makes the sot for me.

The furniture beats the paint, for character, and as others have noticed, that is one heck of a lot of paint . . .

Excellent composition, Mick. The door-knob is so in-your-face that it's making my eyes go wobbly Smile Powerful stuff!

An apology: Re: fluffy white bits

Thank you for the castigation you administered to me yesterday. I accept the admonishment with due humility. I hope you will understand when I explain that my transgression was inadvertent. My copy of the R.A.S. rulebook breaks off at the page turn after Rule 1 Paragraph 2(d) Subsection ii Clause 4 ("..... without the application of axle grease") and does not resume until Rule 7 Paragraph 1(f) Subsection iv Clause 9 (" ....... that leather thongs may be considered an acceptable substitute in an emergency.")

There seem to be several pages missing in between.

I have a hunch that these missing pages are the ones that we mulled over during that memorable meeting in Carlisle a couple of years ago. I recollect little except discarding a sheaf of papers in the bin outside the pub before heading for the last bus. They were completely illegible due to being rather damp and strongly Guinness-flavoured.
- Were they the Missing Link?
- When is the Bondage Division?
- Why is Big Aggie?
Perhaps it is about time we arranged another committee meeting to sort out these and other pressing matters.

With all that rust the knob will not turn for sure... No ammount of oil/lubricant can get that moving...
As Aniamoore says "Where is the key"?

I am so tempted to comment on this comment but I am trying to behave,,

It looks like a metal door Mick,,,,give it a few years and kill the painter,,
