The underestimated force

By Mike Gray
Thanks for looking and thanks to Maddie, Hayley, Phil and Chris Plumbe for a great day out on Portland yesterday.

Probably not my best image, but when standing here on the very edge of Pulpit rock in the wind and yes a very dull evening you just dont realise how powerfull the sea can be.
Many people have jumped off here never to be seen again or blown off the edge and into the sea.
Just listening to the waves hit the rock face and then being forced into to air is very nerve racking and a site to be seen.
So for me i did not go down to the lower edge this evening as the rock surface has so much green slime on it at the moment that my camera could have gone too.

To get the best hit F11 when veiwing large.

Large is definitely the only way to see this great action shot. Well done on a great capture.

Wonderful shot, Mike. But I have to say that even though the writing is outside the frame it is still a little distracting.

You wouldn't want to be standing on the rocks when that wave hit!

A wise move not to go down there this time I'd say! You say not one of your best, but it's got stacks of drama in it for me.

You've caught the spray better in this one Mike. your landscape format one doesn't do the wave justice like this.
