Dunnock

By Mike_Young
Good evening all,

Thanks for all the interest shown to my Goldfinch upload, its always pleasing to know the image has been enjoyed. Special thanks for the UA's.

Tonights offering is of this sprightly little bird that is often overlooked. Seen close up the plumage markings and detail are delightful. Now commonly called a Dunnock, in the past they were known as Hedge sparrows, a misnomer because they don't belong to the sparrow family at all. They actually belong to a small group of birds called Accentors, our Dunnock is the only representative of the family in the Uk.
As always thanks for viewing.
