long time gone

Hi guys ,this is another from my weekend in amroth ,i went into a little cemeterywhere a friend of mine told me of some very old stones ,and came across this one ,
JOHN HENRY MARTIN,HE ACCOMPANIED THE LEGENDARY CAPTAIN COOK ON HIS THIRD VOYAGE,AND WAS BURIED MAY 10TH 1823,

I am so very interested in both history and genealogy, so this is fascinating to me. How well the stone has withstood the effects of the elements too. Seems only right, given how the person it commemorates was likewise a survivor! Love the simplicity of your capture. Pin-sharp and perfectly focused.

Did not know about this grave, Mike. Excellent capture of the tones & texture of the stone, beautifully mottled in the light.
