Grey Heron

By MikeRC
Hello everyone...during a recent visit to Blackpool I spent many hours attempting to get a half decent shot of one of these fine birds.
While'st it is not as sharp as I would have liked, this is about the best of it.
It is nesting season and there was a great deal of activity in and among the trees.
...hence the branch in this birds beak.
Some would say I should have removed it but had I wished to do so I don't have the skills
I hope you like it...thanks for looking.

.....and thanks for all your interest in my previous pictures.

Mike, this shot looks fine, the twig in the heron's mouth does not detract from the image.

It looks sharp where it needs to be and the heron is well positioned in the frame,

I agree with Nick above Mike, the twig in it's mouth shows it's actually doing something & the bird has a destination...the nest!
Nice position in the frame,a good, natural capture.

Great shot Mike, I would be more than pleased with this shot, i have a number of these birds by my house, but getting the perfect shot of one of them is very difficult. Well done.

Spot on Mike. You have captured some really lovely detail in this. Flying shots are not easy.
