Elephant in Amboselli

By mikewatson
This photo is from a recent safari to Kenya when we visited Amboselli National Park.
The herd of elephants had stopped by a water hole, some were in the water others were having fun with the dry soil.
It was in colour originally but converted the raw file to black and white and tweaked the colour tones to improve the contrast.
I watched the elephant for a few minutes to monitor the motion of the trunk and then to capture the blowing of the dust in the air.

Perfectly timed to get the sweep of the dust, Mike, and I cannot fault it.

I would have stayed with colour for a shot like this. Mono doesn't suite a lot of natural history and colour is what it is all about. Otherwisw a nice capture of a moment.
