Lioness and cub Masai Mara, Kenya

By mikewatson
This photo was taken early morning after finding a large pride of lions, which she was seperate from.
There were four cubs altogether but this one got the special treatment of having a free ride.
The photo has been taken in raw and then used Camera raw and Photoshop slightly to enhance it.

Wonderful scene and well captured.

As good as it is, - it can look better with some contrast, - its a little flat, meaning the blacks are not quite black. In ACR if you side the blacks slider a little to the left you will get the effect.

Composition with more space in front and at top makes it special. I added canvas in these areas anc cloved in the background, and the result is a 10 X 8 asect ratio image, in the mod.

Willie's mod improves the contrast (not sure about the cloning though...Tongue). My only other crit is the closeness of the front paw to the edge of the frame. Otherwise, great shot.

Its the content aware fill feature Nick, Im playing with it, - sometimes it does a great job, some tomes like this, but its as an example, - I dont spend a huge amount of time on the mods. Mike could do way better with the right amount of time.

Great shot, like Nick I would prefer to see all of the paws on the ground and a little bit away from the edge.
