The detail and exposure are spot on which I find amazing considering you shot through glass. Presumably you had to use available light (as they usually ban flash). I'd love to know your settings as I have been thinking of trying this at the Bournemouth Aquarium.

Thank you for your comments. I have to confess that I did use a the camera flash on this. This was shot at -2 exposure compensation to ensure none of the background would appear, and to ensure the white didn't burn out. The glass of the window was shielded from the flash by my hand to try to exclude and reflections that would spoil the picture. The best part is that everything worked, and this image is more or less as is, with just a very minor crop to tidy it up, and a small touch of USM.

Cheat - LOL. In some ways that makes the shot even more suprising. You have controlled the light very well.

Oh yes, congratulations on yet another, award. Got any spares for those of us still struggling to attract Pete's attention? Smile

Keep up the good work,

Brian

All I can say Brian is don't bother with Bournemouth, and go to Weymouth on a cold wet windy day when the place is empty.

As for EC's...think you need to see Pete himself, or take a look at my duck photo and cringe. Smile

I like the light along the body of the octupus and the fact that you've kept everything sharp. Shielding the flash with your hand worked well. Its all about light, and controlling it. Enjoyed your portfolio too.
