Frenchmen Street

By Minty805
Bourbon Street is traditionally the beating heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. It draws tourists in their thousands, but we found it very commercial and were disappointed that most of the music pounding out was generic rock and pop, not so much the jazz, Cajun or Zydeco we had hoped to hear, and which can be heard on the surrounding streets. We were advised the locals go a bit further out, to Frenchmen Street, but, although there do seem to be jazz clubs there, when we went, in the middle of the day, the area was very quiet. One of the few people about was this gentleman, whose dress looked interesting, hence the shot. Hope you like it. Allan

Impressive picture, Allan. If it were not for the cars, wires and some other modern things, I would say it was captured sometime around 1890 Smile

Great shot - he looks how I feel at the moment - washed out, tired & full of “ man” cold ...well taken

Fagan in Louisianna.... very Dickens like attire . I hope you found some authentic New Orleans Jazz in the end . I went back in 1978 and marvelled at Preservation hall.

This picture is chock-full of funky character, Allan. The processing suits the subject very well. I like it very much.
Cheers,
Bob
