Very good, Steven. Absolutely pin-sharp detail around the eye.

Cool shot, but I think you just overexposed the white feathers a bit Sad Difficult in these circumstances! I've not even managed to get CLOSE to one of these birds, so well done! Smile I uploaded an alternative version for you to consider.

Fantastic detail. Great shot!

I find that nearly every photograph needs only a few things to improve it quite significantly:
* Fix levels (ensure black and black and white is white)
* Increase saturation
* Re-colour balance
* Sharpen

Most photos that I see have a blue cast over them, so the colour balancing that I use is pretty similar most times: increase red and yellow by 3-4 points for midtones and highlights and 1-2 points for shadows. This will tend to lift the photo out of the frame.

Cheers!

Lovely shot excellent detail.
Was this taken at the 400 end of the lens and what sort of distance did you take it from hope you don't mind me asking Steve.

Yes Ian it was taken at the 400 end. I managed to get Quite close. But still had to crop in to get the effect i wanted. Thats where the 20D comes in handy im still learning all the time & hopefully getting better
