Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my portfolio. I hope you enjoy some of what you see. I've had a love for taking photos since I was a child, particularly landscapes and travel. I also have a reasonable skill in drawing, but not the patience for it since I was at school, so photography has taken over. I've avoided this hobby ever becoming professional, though I have sold a few prints over the years. To me, anything that becomes a 'job' is spoiled by the need to make money. As a hobby, it helps me dwell on the good things and the beauty in life...something we could all do with Smile

Lovely shot and great stitching. I do have to correct one thing though…this is a view of Kingswear from Dartmouth, not the other way around. Smile

  • Mussenden at low tide

Perhaps if the original Image had been taken in RAW it would have solved the issue of the top of the ridge looking slightly odd against the sky. Working with RAW gives complete control over sharpening and noise reduction, so all the modifications uploaded still have an element of over sharpening of the ridge line. It must be something to do with the way Nikon applies sharpening to it’s JPEG’s, unless sharpening is turned up in camera settings?

Personally I think your own upload has the greatest impact. The over processed look is only apparent when you look more closely. Try RAW next time?

  • Power spaghetti

The contrast and the brushstroke effect both work together to bring out the feeling of movement in the power-lines...quite ‘striking’ and unique.

  • Plastic

Interesting distortion technique and supersaturation of the colours. Would look good as a ceramic tile Smile

  • Hi Mavis, thanks for dropping in on my bit recently. I'm glad to see your work is just as popular as it always was and reaching ever higher standards. I bet you are enjoying that Canon SLR. I haven't any where as much time recently to do any photography because my work is taking up more and more of my time. Your portfolio is beautiful and reminds me of what I should be doing! best wishes, Simon.
