Flowers of the mountains

By mlseawell
An early rise and nearly two hour drive to one of my favorite hiking areas, Little Cottonwood Canyon and Catherine Pass. When I arrived at the trailhead, the temp was a brisk 49f and I was greeted by a swarm of mosquitoes! Mosquitoes would be the theme for the day as I set out for Catherine Lake, two families ahead of me. Normally I don't like company but when you have bears in the area..company isn't a bad thing!
But eventually I was alone and working my way up a steep trail and loving every minute, except for the loud snort that nearly made me jump! Finally, I kept going but I found the source..a massive male moose! Magnificent and so elegant, he moved off the path and I continued my journey. The higher I went, the more stunning the views and this moment, for me, stole the show...flowers of the mountains.
