From autumn's view

By mlseawell
I have been trying to get to the Grand Tetons in Wyoming while the foliage is changing for five years! It didn't look like it was going to happen this year and I almost gave up but I found affordable lodging (Jackson Hole is the playground of the super wealthy and hotel prices reflect!) My wife and I only stayed one night but it was so worth it! We arrived close to sundown and decided on Schwabacher Landing. The light was not great at first but as the evening continued it became much better. This was taken from the path as the light started to fade with the colors becoming intense..from autumn's view.

A really interesting composition, this. The Tetons are usually seen in isolated splendor "rising from the plains" (as McPhee vividly described them) yet here they are hemmed in on each side by dense vegetation, almost like an early medieval landscape painting. The chisel-sharp peaks are superbly captured with just a touch of fresh snow. I also like the strong autumn colours and the soft hues of the sky. A very attractive picture, worth the long wait and the expensive accommodation!
