The Bonnie Purple Heather

By moiral
Evening all. Have just spent a few days touring the Lochaber area. Absolutely breathtaking scenery. This is a view looking up Glen Coe, with some bonnie purple heather in the foreground. The bonnie purple heather matches my now not so bonnie purple foot!
Being the smart ass that I usually am, I was busy wittering to my sister, and terrorising her with tales of adders hidden in heather. I decided to leap over the heather to take a different view with the inclusion of the heather. The piece of grass I thought I was going to land on, had nothing underneath it, so my foot twisted inwards and I landed right on the side of my ankle. I now have a foot twice the size it should be. It sports a wide variety of colours ranging from purple through to black, which reaches from my toes to heel. I cannot walk comfortably without an ankle support and have torn a ligment in my foot. Let me assure you that purple heather is definitely not lucky. Oh and my sister did help me up, and assisted me back up the slope to the car park - after she took photos of my face seriously distorted in pain!
Will catch up over the next day or two.

What a tale of woe Moira - I do hope you will soon be on two feet again - you really must look before you leap!
The winding road taking us through the glen makes this a very pleasant image.

Sorry to hear of your accident, Moira......must have put a dampener on the holiday.
But what a fine shot down the Glen with that heather there to remind you of what you'd rather forget.

Ooooch Moira I know the feeling, I tend to carry a pole or my tripod to support me as I walk gingerly on the tussock grass of Scottish hills. Hope you managed the train journey as planned?

Dougie

it's good to see the purple heather coming out, quite early really for the glens.

Well, you silly girl, Moira! That'll teach you to look before you leap Wink Hope you're soon on the mend and up 'n' about again.
A wonderful capture of the beautiful scenery in that area...I just want to be there and wander along that path (but not through the heather!) Smile

Sorry but it's your own fault Moira we are getting older so you must slow down and be more cautious we can still do what we like but a bit slower, i carry a staff to probe with on the marsh or you end up in a dyke. Been out on the marsh this morning and got a bloody good soaking in the rain, i think summer is lost. As for your landscape shot it' very beautiful and lovely work.
