Freezing Freesia

By moiral
Morning all. Spotted an article in a photo mag about freezing flowers, so decided to give it a go. However I got a bit over enthusiastic with the ice and wound up with a great chunk and half the flower sticking out! Got fed up waiting for the ice to melt, so started pouring warm water over it, which gave some big cracks to the ice. All shots taken in natural light outdoors.
V1 is an original with no treatments.
V2 increased saturation and added a tint.
V3 and 4, crops from V2, changed white balance to fluorescent and increased saturation.
Then I dropped the chunk of ice Sad. Good fun experimenting though.
Thanks for C&Cs on yesterday's upload.
I have added a version 5 & 6. Have turned V1 & 2 by 90 degrees as suggested by Dougie (Scottishlandscapes). Have to agree that they do look better like this.

Oh, you cruel girl, poor freesias Wink They certainly make good abstracts though, Moira, well captured. Carol

This is an interesting technique and for a first attempt it has produced some interesting results, Moira: will take a wee bit time for me to get my head round this though.......but of these versions, i think V 2 stands out for me as the most eye catching.

Imagine freezing freesias...Tongue

An imaginative use of the technique but maybe on a grander style than the article meant. If you don't mine me saying so, but they would all look better if turned 90 degrees IMHO of course.

I zipped by the article but I did wonder when I would see it on site. Vs has some sparkling colours Moira.

They are certainly different Moira but well done you for having a good go at it! Not something I have tried. I like 3 & 4 best. Lou

I read that article when we were away last week Moira and thought 'shall I or shan't I'. You have done exceptionally well, especially the crop in V2. Carole
