London Marathon 2010 Elite Women 30k drink station

By monosodium
The elite women grab a quick drink on the way past the 30km mark. The main foreground runner went on to win.

I've done a little tweaking, desaturated the background elements / crowd but I can't decide what to do with this one, the post is in just the wrong place but everything else seems to work out ok.

I'm toying with the idea of a major cloning session (I think I might be able to do it using detail from other shots in the sequence).

I'm liking the action and intent, and all in all I think they were at the table and gone in a couple of seconds.

The post does intrude but I would be inclined to make a feature of it!

In the mode I've uploaded for you, I've rotated the image slightly - so as to straighten the post - a nd then cropped from the right. I've also added a little more contrast via a curves adjustment and sharpening just a bit. See what you think. Smile

I love those mods, thanks for your time & input.

The first mod is similar to the crop I was originally thinking of; but straightening up the post is one of those things which is really blindingly obvious (but only now someone's pointed it out!)

I don't think I'd have considered the close crop that really picks up on all the key elements in it and I like that very much.

This is exactly the kind of inpiriation I need, thanks again!

Good as it is, but the really impressive shot, and there are several within this image, is to come in close and get rid of that background. The second mod is good, but other tight crops would also work.
