Yeah A butterfly at last!

By moocow
Hi all, well the lens eventually arrived after almost two month of waiting and I finally got to go out and take a pic. Of course the sun wasn't particularly shining, there wasn't much about, and anything that was was blowing in the wind. All that aside had a lovely walk around our local park with super company as usual and managed to snap this painted lady. This Macro is going to take some getting used to, with me moving backward and forward to get the correct focus and the wind swaying everything in site I ended up feeling just a wee bit dizzy. Think it lacks a bit of colour and the wings seem more in focus than the body, don't know how i managed that but hey ho just pleased to have got somehting. Think I'll practice in the house for a while with some nice flowers, at least they'll stay put.

Have a nice weekend Smile

Well - for your first attempt with macro - it's pretty darned good! Forcusing is the big issue. I find you rarely get EVERYTHING sharp. It's a case of having to decide where to prioritise your focal point - then pray the wind stops for a second - and the subject stays put! Great fun!!

Totally agree. Took me a while to get used to mine too, a different approach to usual but very very rewarding. Enjoy!
